Moscow, 6 July 2004 the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) launched the 2004 UNAIDS Report of the Global AIDS Epidemic, which sets out the current knowledge on the state of the epidemic based on the experiences of this international organization.The Moscow Launch was a joint event of UNAIDS and the Federal Service of the Russian Federation for Surveillance in Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare. The launch brought together representatives of state institutions, civil society - including people living with HIV/AIDS – and international organizations, as well as Russian and international media. Participants were briefed on the HIV/AIDS situation in Russia and the priorities for a comprehensive response to the epidemic.The Global AIDS Epidemic Report in available at www.undaids.org
