Announcement. Presentation of the 2007/2008 UNDP Global Human Development Report: ‘Fighting climate change: Human solidarity in a divided world’.

Building on the science of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s Synthesis Report (2007) and the economics of the N. Stern Review The Economics of Climate Change (2006), UN Development Programme Human Development Report (HDR) focuses on climate change consequences for human development and in particular for the poor. It offers recommendations for the solution of these problems.

  • why we have less than a decade to change course and start living within our global carbon budget
  • how climate change will create long-run low human development traps, pushing vulnerable people into a downward spiral of deprivation
  • what should be the global response with countries acting on the basis of their historic responsibility and capabilities

These and other questions are answered in the Report, which will be presented 27-28 November 2007 in the world capitals

The Moscow presentation to be lead by Ms Kori Udovički, UNDP Assistant Administrator and Director Regional Bureau for Europe and the CIS, will take place on 28 November 2007 at 15:00 in the premises of MGIMO University at the following address: 76 Prospect Vernadskogo, central entrance, conference hall 1 (Prospect Vernadskogo metro st.). Representatives of the authors’ team, interested government bodies, academic institutions, business community, diplomatic corps, UN agencies, non-governmental organisations and media will take part in the presentation.
