Carbon Market Forum took place in Moscow on 28-29 April

 

On 28-29th April 2008, the World Bank, in cooperation with the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Russian Federation, Gazprom and the United Nations development Programme (UNDP) conducted the Moscow Carbon Market Forum.

 

This forum served as a platform for the exchange of views on problems and prospects of Kyoto projects implementation in CIS countries and Eastern Europe. Over 100 major Russian companies from oil and gas, energy, metallurgy as well cement production sectors, which implement emission reduction projects at their enterprises, as well as leading players in the International Carbon Market participated in the Forum and discussed the following issues:

∙ legal framework and procedures for the implementation of the projects according to the Kyoto Protocol flexible mechanisms (Joint Implementation and Clean Development Mechanism);

∙ prospects for the implementation of such projects for the period of 2008-2012;

∙ Green Investment Scheme prospects;

∙ the state of the International Carbon Market and Carbon Buyers prospects.
