UNICEF statement on the killing of Zarema Sadulayeva, head of ‘Let's Save the Generation’ NGO

11 August 2009, Moscow - UNICEF is deeply saddened and concerned by the death of Zarema Sadulayeva, head of ‘Let's Save the Generation’ NGO, and her husband Alik Dzhabrailov who were found dead today in Grozny. UNICEF expresses condolences to the family and friends of the victims.

From 2001 until 2008, UNICEF worked in partnership with ‘Let's Save the Generation’ NGO to help children recover from the conflict in the North Caucasus. Thanks to ‘Let's Save the Generation’ more than 100 children underwent successful surgeries, were able to get prosthetic devices free of charge and get access to social benefits. In addition, with UNICEF assistance the NGO provided psychosocial support to help children recover from trauma and heal their psychological wounds.
