Purpose of post

To contribute to daily operations of the Section of Digital Pedagogy and Learning Materials at the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (UNESCO IITE)

Main responsibilities

Under the overall authority of the Director of the UNESCO IITE and direct supervision of the Head of the Section of Digital Pedagogy and Learning Materials, the incumbent shall perform the following tasks:

  • Contribute to the planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluation of the programmes and projects implemented by the Section of Digital Pedagogy and Learning Materials to ensure overall efficiency and effectiveness of the programme management, delivery and accomplishment of programme goals and objectives.
  • Carry out collection of information, preliminary analysis and assessment of innovative approaches and the best international practices in the field of application of information and communication technologies (ICT) in education in line with the area of activity of the Section.
  • Contribute to the research, analytical and information activities of the Section, and assist in the organization and implementation of the Institute's regular programmes and extrabudgetary projects.
  • Promote knowledge management through drafting/finalizing sectoral programme documents and reports, sharing good practice, lessons learned, and knowledge/information exchange, with partnerships and collaborative relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Draw up contractual agreements and terms of reference, including preparation of supporting documents and related administrative forms, and liaise, at the request of the Supervisor, with the contractors, partners and donors.
  • Provide administrative and organizational assistance in the preparation and conduction of missions and related administrative processes.
  • Undertake any other related tasks or assignments requested by the Director of the UNESCO IITE or the Head of the Section.

Profile

  • Higher education in social sciences, pedagogics, ICT, or a related field;
  • At least four yearsof progressively responsible experience in the area of social sciences, pedagogics, ICT, or a related area.
  • Experience with educational, federal governmental and international organizations, analytical and proof-reading skills would be an asset;
  • High-level skills in the use of office software packages (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.);
  • Proven competency to:
    • Work in a team in a multicultural environment;
    • Communicate effectively and persuasively, orally and in writing;
    • Good interpersonal and organizational skills;
    • Ability to manage priorities in order to meet tight deadlines;
    • Knowledge of the functioning of international organizations and/or the UN system would be an asset.

Languages

  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Russian is required.

Conditions of employment

  • Labor legislation and employment regulations of the Russian Federation are applied to this position. Monthly salary of 55,500 RUB is subject to income tax. Additional bonus scheme is available based on performance. Probationary period is two months.
